Many of these animals require special treatment which I enjoy providing each day. Most of these animals came to my farm so broken from lack of care it was a miracle they survived. I have so enjoyed seeing these abused animals thrive under the proper care and grateful to be a part of their recovery. No matter how many hours I spend taking care of the animals they have always given back more than they take with the countless laughs, smiles and affection they give me each day. Review: The Love Virus by Eleni Cay

Eleni Cay

Hope you are not affected too much by COVID 19 at the moment. For this global pandemic, I had to experience "country-lockdown" for the first time in my life (hopefully for the last time too). In this arduous situation, reading books is the only way to find an escape. So I picked up Eleny Cay's The Love Virus.

This book belongs to the fiction genre. The story of the book revolves around Katie, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of nineteen. Because of the illness, she couldn't give physical satisfaction to her fiancé Mark, and she decided to break up the relationship. Katie was a student of psychology at Oxford University, but MS led her to drop herself out of college. She was admitted to Critten Hospital under the supervision of Dr Andrews. While undergoing treatment, it was found that Katie had incurable MS2. Dr Andrews told her that he wanted to apply an experimental drug Andratalia on her and assured her that it would cure MS2. Katie had no choice but to say yes. Mark often came to visit Katie. After the first day of Andratalia treatment, Mark noticed some ominous changes in Katie's behaviour. He took her to another doctor who was experienced in this field, and they found that Katie was misdiagnosed in Critten and she didn't have MS.

"That to make Mark part of me, I must set him free" - this sentence of the first chapter reflects how deep a woman's love could be that she can sacrifice the relationship for her partner's happiness. This sentence influenced me to take this book seriously.

I think everyone should read this book at least for once. Minors may not be interested in reading a novel on such a serious topic, but if you're an adult, you must read this book. You will get to know how an MS patient survives. If you are a wannabe writer, then you should read this book to learn how to portray the thought process of a character. This book is not among those books that you will read again and again and explore different meanings. So if you are looking for a book which can amaze you by its story but not by its hidden meaning, then this book is written for you.

I was unaware of MS before reading this book. In this book, the author has perfectly illustrated the phrases and feelings an MS patient goes through. I really enjoyed reading this lyrical prose piece. Although you have already got an overall idea of the book, I am putting below my ratings so that it can help you more.

Writing style: The writing style of the author is really impressive. Her way of presenting Katie's suicide attempt scene gave me goosebumps. She smoothly developed the characters and didn't try to drag unnecessary attention to any of the characters. A beginner level writer will learn many things from her writing style. This book enriched my vocabulary stock. So without a doubt, I am giving four out of four stars in this section.

Story: Four out of four stars. The author selected a very sensitive topic and built up a very good story. It's not easy to build stories in such serious topics. It contains romance, thrill and all the other elements a novel should have. The arguments of Paul and Rosemary disturbed the pace of the story, but I don't think this reason can influence the removal of the stars.

Overall Rating: Four out of four stars. Eleni Cay's work is very calm and influencing. I felt a different vibe while reading the book. If you don't like reading books, I assure you that you will feel the comfort of watching a movie in your imagination while reading this book.
