I have just completed reading the poetry book Awakening- Musings on Planetary Survival written by Sam Love . This book is published by Fly on the Wall Press. The book contains twenty-three poetries, and the poet conveys his concern about environmental issues through them. In order to maintain the theme of the book, the poems are divided into four sections- Awakening, Origins, Impacts and Recovering Hope. From the craziness of shipping bottled water 6,000 miles, to how bacteria evolve for a counterattack, this collection laughs at humanity’s war on nature. The poet says that nature is the best teacher, and he describes how global warming is harming natural beauty. Through his poems, the poet talks about water crises, glaciers calving into the sea, disappearing of the rainforests, endangered species vanishing and all the other lousy things we humans have gifted to nature.
