Review: Awakening Musings on Planetary Survival by Sam Love

Sam love poetry book
I have just completed reading the poetry book Awakening- Musings on Planetary Survival written by Sam Love. This book is published by Fly on the Wall Press.

The book contains twenty-three poetries, and the poet conveys his concern about environmental issues through them. In order to maintain the theme of the book, the poems are divided into four sections- Awakening, Origins, Impacts and Recovering Hope.

From the craziness of shipping bottled water 6,000 miles, to how bacteria evolve for a counterattack, this collection laughs at humanity’s war on nature. The poet says that nature is the best teacher, and he describes how global warming is harming natural beauty. Through his poems, the poet talks about water crises, glaciers calving into the sea, disappearing of the rainforests, endangered species vanishing and all the other lousy things we humans have gifted to nature. The poem Nature’s Bacchanal exhibits how climate change is confusing the biological clock. The poet also says that plastic is one of the worst inventions by mankind.
After presenting these issues to the reader, the poet shows the path to resolve them in the poem Each Day:
"Like refusing a plastic item,
Planting a tree,
Walking or biking,
Conserving water,
Turning off a light,
Lowering the thermostat,
Supporting peace,
or creating your own dissent."

Usually, in my reviews, I always mention my most favourite poem (and least sometimes). But in this case, I think I shouldn't name one poem as all the poems of the book carry significant messages. I didn't notice any vulgar or profane words in this book, so everyone can read this book. Even if you don't like poetries, you should grab this book. You also can give this book to your friends and family members on the upcoming Ozone Day.

If you have been following this blog from the beginning, you know that this blog has a three-dimensional rating system so that you can get a better review of a book. For poetry books, along with the overall rating, I consider giving ratings on the reading experience of the book and writing style of the poet. Unlike other chapbooks, the theme of this book doesn't allow me to put it into these conditions. So I am giving below an overall rating of the book.

Fly on the Wall Press has never disappointed the readers. This book also contains quality contents like all the other books they have published. I believe this book is a great gift to mankind. This book can open the eyes of millions who haven't yet realised the horrific sides of evolution. I liked the simplicity of the poetries in this book. The poet selected a very important topic that we humans should worry about. I am giving four out of four stars to this masterpiece.

Review: The Love Virus by Eleni Cay

Hope you are not affected too much by COVID 19 at the moment. For this global pandemic, I had to experience "country-lockdown" for the first time in my life (hopefully for the last time too). In this arduous situation, reading books is the only way to find an escape. So I picked up Eleny Cay 's The Love Virus . This book belongs to the fiction genre. The story of the book revolves around Katie, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of nineteen. Because of the illness, she couldn't give physical satisfaction to her fiancé Mark, and she decided to break up the relationship. Katie was a student of psychology at Oxford University, but MS led her to drop herself out of college. She was admitted to Critten Hospital under the supervision of Dr Andrews. While undergoing treatment, it was found that Katie had incurable MS2. Dr Andrews told her that he wanted to apply an experimental drug Andratalia on her and assured her that it would cure MS2. Katie had ...
